The Waccamaw High School Concert Choir has been selected by the Pearl Harbor Parade Committee to be the official ambassadors of South Carolina in the 2023 Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade and the 75th Anniversary WWII commemoration. This nomination was based on our community performance reputation and the recommendation of the selection committee. Supported by the state of Hawaii and the City of Honolulu, the Waccamaw High School Chorus students will experience multiple performance opportunities during their journey to Hawaii. The students will perform a resounding “God Bless America” with choirs from around the country as part of the 75th Anniversary of World War II Commemoration event. The students will also participate in performing the “National Anthem” during the 2023 Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade. As people around the world remember the 82nd Anniversary of Pearl Harbor, each Waccamaw student will experience a life-changing moment as they learn more about one of the most significant marks in American history.
It is our mission and desire to raise $120,000 in the effort to send forty of our Waccamaw students to participate in this experience. Different from most travel opportunities, this trip is completely classroom-based, meaning that the participation and ensemble is intended for students enrolled in the WHS Chorus Class. This assures that students of all socio-economic backgrounds and all demographics will have the opportunity to participate.
We thank you for your support of the Arts and for your contribution to this life-changing experience for the Waccamaw High School Concert Choir. Your donation will help the students spend six days experiencing the culture and life of the Hawaiian people and awaken them to the incredible sacrifices made by so many men and women in our armed forces. Thank you.
